After Katniss Everdeen, the girl on fire, accepted the role of the Mockingjay, the symbol of rebellion against the autocratic Capitol, she and the rebels of District 13 poise an all-out war against them; however, this time Katniss has a personal agenda: assassinating President Snow herself to gain revenge not only for Panem's sake but for her own as well.
After accepting her role as the Mockingjay, Katniss Everdeen, along with her team, prepares to take their fight straight to the ruthless Capitol. While her mission is to bring President Snow down once and for all, Katniss finds that her squad dies at the hands of either Mutts, Peacekeepers or both. Once in the Capitol, Katniss discovers that there is another threat rising that could decide not only her fate but the future of all Panem.
In the storm of movies that are trying to be the next Harry Potter series like with Divergent and Maze Runner, trying to aim for the teen and young adult market, The Hunger Games have been really successful. Unlike the Harry Potter series that had a male protagonist and an upbeat attitude, The Hunger Games has a strong feminist hero that's in a real down beat universe. Some might see the darker environment as a turn off, but I always saw it as unique. And even with the somber tone, it still felt like a tense fun action story that satisfies most mainstream audiences.

Last year, we received the first part of the Mockingjay finale that I liked, but criticized for being a little slow and truly only half of a movie. This trend (along with many upcoming movies) of splitting movies is something that rarely justifies it's existence as it only serves to stretch the series on longer then it needs to be. So given how the first part was very dialogue heavy and light on action, I think a lot of people (who haven't read the books) are hoping that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 will deliver on the action for the finale of the series.

We open immediately at the end of the first movie where Katness Everdeen (played by Jennifer Lawrence) who is recovering from Peeta's (played by Josh Hutcherson) attempted murder on her. He was brainwashed by the capital and Katness is his trigger. The doctors have done what they can, but all they can do is wait for Peeta to heel. Their attack on the capital in the last movie weakened them and is finally ready to make the final assault. Katness wants to join the front lines in District 2, but leader of the rebellion President Alma Coin (played by Julianne Moore) and her assistant Plutarch (played by Philip Seymour Hoffman) tell her to rest.

She defies their orders by sneaking onto a cargo ship that takes her to the District where she meets up with her fellow rebels. Once she teams up with Gale (played by Liam Hemsworth), Finnick (played by Sam Claflin), Cressida (played by Natalie Dormer) and a few commanders, they make their way to the rim of the capitol. Not only is Peeta also coming along, but the Capitol has rigged most of the city with traps as a last effort to drive off the forces. It's up to Katness to make it through the traps to complete her mission to kill President Snow (played by Donald Sutherland).

Like the previous movie, Mockingjay part 2 is just as somber and bleak, though this is feels like the darkest of the bunch. Perhaps it relies too much on being somber, as I really wanted Katness to have a couple of moments to breathe. It does keep her goal in mind to end everything, though you kind of want something that will keep her going. I wish there had been some lighter moments somewhere like previous memories as kids or something.

As is, this definitely feels like a proper way to end the Hunger Games, giving us an ending that makes sense, even if it's not as surprising as it is in the book. While it continues to stay character focused, there are some well staged action scenes. Fans hoping for more of it will probably be disappointed, but satisfied nonetheless.

Jennifer Lawrence was Katness Everdeen and it will be sad knowing she probably won't play her again. Everyone else does well, as well as Phillip Seymour Hoffman in his final role.

I'll give this six burning arrows out of ten. While it is the weakest of the films, it's still a good movie to end the legacy. Now that the games are over, it's time for the next young adult series to take the world by storm. Will it be Harry Potter-like? Or Hunger Games-like? Or something different? Cinema is a tricky game.
The point of this flick is to kill Snow? Fu*k that and Kill this movie. I've had turds that were better than this movie. Peeta was a whiny bit*h thru out this entire flick. The special effects sucked, the costumes sucked, the acting sucked… Everything Sucked. I wished they all would have taken that suicide pill at the beginning of the movie and saved me from having to watch the rest of this bullsh*t. I am boycotting any future Hunger Game films since this last film left me feeling hungry for entertainment. So, Julianne Moore's character takes over Snow's position and 4 of the remaining survivors vote to have a "Symbolic" Hunger Games. Instead of killing Snow, Katniss Kills Alma Coin. Katniss ends up at her old house and yells at her cat. I don't know or CARE if she is dreaming about her and Peeta being together in a wheat field with their 2 kids. Dumbest Movie Ever. The End.
If anything, this is too faithful to the book, sometimes getting bogged down in detail as Katniss struggles to her goal. But its epic sweep, grand designs and unyielding central performance make this a compelling finale.
Witnessing what tyrannical Capitol President Snow (Donald Sutherland) has done to her partner Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson), two-time Hunger Games champion Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) agrees to serve as the Mockingjay, the symbol of the Panem districts' rebellion against the Capitol. As District 13 President Alma Coin (Julianne Moore) makes plans for uniting the districts in the upcoming war, Katniss acts on her own personal agenda—that of assassinating President Snow (Donald Sutherland). The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 is based on the second half of Mockingjay, a 2010 novel by American writer Suzanne Collins. It is the fourth and last movie in The Hunger Games series, preceded by The Hunger Games (2012) (2012),(2013), and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 (2014) (2014). The novel was adapted for the film by American screenwriters Peter Craig and Danny Strong. Katniss is reunited with Peeta but, when she tries to hug him, he suddenly attacks and tries to strangle her,. Katniss is saved only by Boggs' (Mahershala Ali) intervention. Later, it's explained to her that Peeta was "hijacked"—a form of fear conditioning enhanced with "Tracker Jacker venom". Meanwhile, Alma Coin announces that her covert operation into the Capitol has resulted in the victors being liberated and requests that all the districts of Panem unite against their mutual oppressor. In the final scene, Katniss looks into the medical chamber where a manically-distressed Peeta is being held in restraints. Realizing that it was Coin who ordered the bombing that caused her sister Prim's (Willow Shields) death, Katniss redirects the aim of her arrow from Snow to Coin, hitting her squarely in the heart. Snow roars in laughter. Katniss attempts to commit suicide but, as she reaches into her pocket for the Nightlock pill, Peeta knocks it out of her hand. As Katniss is taken into custody and dragged away, the angry crowd surges forward and continues Snow's execution for her. Standing on the sidelines, Plutarch (Philip Seymour Hoffman) watches and smiles. While Katniss sits alone in a room guarded by two guards, Haymitch (Woody Harrelson) enters and reads to her a letter from Plutarch to, expressing his approval of all she did and assuring her that the leaders of the Districts are already planning to vote in a new President, who will most probably be Commander Paylor (Patina Miller), who will eventually pardon her. Katniss takes the train back to her home in District 12's Victors Village to lay low until the dissension quiets. The winter passes slowly as Katniss mourns the loss of Prim. One day in the spring, she returns from hunting to find Peeta planting primroses in her garden. When the summer rains come, Peeta is still there. One night, as they lay in bed cuddling, Peeta asks, You love me. Real or not real? Katniss replies, "Real." In the final scenes, several years later, Katniss and Peeta are still together, Peeta playing with their son while Katniss holds her newborn, who awakens and begins to fuss. Katniss tells the baby that she has nightmares, too, but that she deals with them by playing a game in which she remembers all the good things that people did. It gets tedious, she admits, "but there are worse games to play."
